When dogs are taken into a new home, since it’s the decision of the person/people to adopt them into their home and family, one would expect them to be treated with love, care, and compassion. Sometimes this is the life the dog and its owner/owners live, but in some cases, reverse is the case. Some dogs face worse conditions and situations than they’ve ever led, even more than before they got to the shelter, seeking another chance at survival and life. Chloe, a Siberian husky, had a tough life before she was rescued and taken to the shelter, but it seemed life even had a worse one for her. As she was healing and learning to navigate life once more on a new foot, she got adopted by a happy couple who clearly loved each other and seemed like they had enough love to share with Chloe. And so when they signed the papers for Chloe to officially become theirs, it wasn’t just a thing of satisfaction for the shelter staff because they knew her story of how she was abandoned and found days later starved and whimpering, but also a thing of joy to Chloe herself, who had hoped they were her light at the end of the tunnel, one she had silently prayed for even while she was with her former owner right before the shelter.

And at first, that was the case, she had gotten the Queen treatment; when she was brought into their home, they got her a nice bed and bought different types of dog food for her. As little as this might sound, she felt like her life was just beginning anew, and she intends to enjoy every bit of it.
Before the couple goes out every day, they feed her, making sure she is okay, and when they go out, she waits for them by the door patiently till she sees their car light blinking it way onto the porch since they go to work together and come back together regardless of the time they do. They take her along with them on evening walks, they play fetch with her on the beach and even on the field, and she was becoming happy because this was the kind of life she has always dreamt of. That was Chloe’s life before all hell broke loose, Little did she know that it was just a temporary arrangement, and the change for the worse was already knocking on her door. Her life soon metastasized into a nightmare. Her new owner soon began to show their true colors. Chloe didn’t know why, and at first she thought she was the one at fault and tried to thread carefully, but nothing changed. Things even escalated fast, making her realize that this is far beyond her fault; it was purely them-she wasn’t the bad one, it was franking them—nothing to do with her. It all started when the couple started nagging about Chloe, saying that she sought too much attention and was getting unexpectedly annoying, They both started blaming each other for the idea of adopting a dog, and so one day, in order to put no further strain in their relationship, they both decided to take her out of the house and instead put her in their garage, which is barely used but where old and worn things are kept. And then it got worse. They tied her and began to starve her-no food, no water. Gone was her old life of warm beds and sweet food as she begged them to adopt her, contrary to their decisions. Then came the beatings. Chloe soon started to get beaten for every little, tiny mistake. There was a day she was flogged extremely for barking at night because she heard a rustling in the dark. She was soon taken to the dark basement and left there for days with no food or water.
THE GOOD SAMARITAN
Their neighbour, Maddy, said that when Chloe was at the garage, she heard consistent barks for some hours and couldn’t sleep, so she decided to tell them to care for the dog so she could get some sleep. When Maddy got to their home, they claimed that they had no dog. Maddy was confused because she had seen them the day they brought in the Siberian husky, and so she decided to investigate. The following day, even though she knew it might be called trespassing and she might be sued for this act, to save Chloe, she was ready to get punished. Saving her was the first priority, and that was just what she did.She waited for the couple to leave the house. Having known them for a while, she knew they hid a couple of their keys until the flower pot on their porch, so she grabbed them, proceeded to open the door, and started looking for the dog.She searched through the house and made noises to attract the dog to her presence but to no avail. She almost gave up when she heard a very faint bark somewhere down the hall, It was a weak one and very hard to decipher, and she had to listen carefully before she could pick up the soft bark. By the time she found her, she was tied and chained in the dark basement, she was almost unconscious. She called the animal control, and thus, Chloe was rescued from the clutches of the wicked couple, who had refused to let her go and move on to a better life even though they could no longer care for her.
Chloe was taken to the clinic where she was treated, and Maddy stood by her throughout the treatment process, giving her the moral support and love she could muster. She was later told that she had probably eaten or taken water for two or three days and that it was a miracle she was still breathing when she found her. Thanks to her, she was able to survive due to her swiftness to action, and because of this, Maddy was spared the charges of trespassing on her neighbour’s property.
After she recovered, Maddy brought her into her home in order to give her a much-needed, better life. Chloe was cold and closed off for a while, unyielding to every loving and caring act Maddy showed her, still nursing the psychological trauma and physical pain she had suffered. Maddy nursed her with love and care back to health, and through utmost patience and support, though slowly, she started becoming her friendly and loving formal self.

Maddy soon gained the trust of Chloe, and she started to warm up to her. She started jumping on her bed, ,licking Maddy’s face, waggling her tail, and pawing elegantly, seeking attention, which irritated the couple, but Maddy didn’t care, and instead she smiled and encouraged her to come back to ‘life’ and become the happy and loving dog she was meant to be.
Chloe soon started to love again and also gained back her fluffy, silky white and black fur, which had become rough and lost its shine due to maltreatment.
Chloe learned that all humans are not the same, even though they all have blood running through their veins and flesh covering their bodies. Some are the best to pray to be with, and others are sore to the eye and insult the entire human race.
Chloe’s story remains inspiring, as she is now known as the Siberian husky, with the resilience, determination, and courage to be able to love again despite all she has been through. Her story teaches people around her that if they don’t give up, they will find and lead a much better life than before and even become happy at it. It was later found out that Chloe’s former owners were charged to court and asked to pay a fine or serve a jail term of a year, and when the couple were asked about their reasons for abusing the dog, they never gave any reason, significant or not. Everyone assumed they were plainly wicked, too, because they never deemed it fit to apologize to anyone or change people’s opinions of them in order to reenter society.
The entire community praised Maddy for her bravery, kindness, and courage that saved the Siberian husky from the fangs of death, and also for taking her in and giving the community the best example of how dogs should be loved and treated.
Maddy and Chloe still live and lead a happy and healthy lifestyle, loving each other and caring for each other. Even though no one knew the life she had led before she was rescued and taken to the shelter, nor does anyone know the reason(s) why the couple changed totally and began maltreating Chloe, everyone was sure of one thing, which was that Chloe had finally found a home she could call her own and a human she could call her best friend and family. She continues to live her life as a beloved member of the family and society at large.
